Bakewell school hosts piano contest

A prep school will play host to pianists from all over the country as they take part in a contest.

S Anselm’s Preparatory School, in Bakewell, will hold the inaugural S Anselm’s Piano Competition on Saturday, April 18.

This prestigious event will include adjudication by piano tutor at Chetham’s School of Music, tutor in piano and tutor in contemporary piano at the RNCM, examiner for the ABRSM and performer Peter Lawson.

Performances will be held in the Hargreaves Hall and S Anselm’s school library, both on grand pianos.

Winners and runners up from each class will be invited to perform in the afternoon concert.

All competitors entering a class will receive a token of the day to take away with them. Prizes will include the S. Anselm’s Open Piano Class Trophy and the Peter Malcolm grfades seven to eight class.

Each class entry, which start from under age eight to adults, costs £5.
