Rohan, in King Street, Bakewell, is running its ‘Gift Your Gear’ initiative throughout September, which aims to enable people to benefit from life changing experiences in the great outdoors, regardless of their circumstances.

Customers are being encouraged to bring into store any unwanted, but usable, outdoor trousers, jackets and fleeces into the shop including children’s outdoor gear.

The items will then be donated to local community organisations, youth groups and charities for outdoor projects.

Store manager Judy Buchanan said: “Customers were incredibly generous last time round enabling us to donate outdoor gear to numerous worthy groups and causes.

“We hope that they’re just as generous this time round. In particular, we’re appealing for children’s gear, as a lot of the organisations that apply for the used gear are to do with children, for example, local scout groups. However we will ensure a good home is found for any item whether it be for adult or child.”
