Be ready for flash flooding in your home

People who live in areas prone to flooding are being asked to be prepared in then event of a flash flood.

More than 45,000 homes in Derbyshire are at risk of flooding – including 12,000 susceptible to flash flooding.

Prolonged heavy rain like that seen in June has saturated the ground which can increase the risk of flooding caused by surface run off.

Sandbags can be an effective way to stop or limit flood water from getting into property but they need to be filled and ready for use rather than obtained and filled as water rises.
