Bid for cycle cash

A bid has been submitted for Government cash to help boost cycling in the Dales.

Derbyshire County Council hopes to win the cash to help fund a ring of cycling trails connecting Buxton and Matlock, with links to surrounding communities, and measures to promote health and tourism.

Links would include new on and off-road cycle routes south of Matlock through Cromford and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, cycle hire facilities and public transport connections helping cyclists access the trails by bus and train.

Bidders are expected to be told whether or not they have been successful later this month.
