Cash is on offer to groups that support and create youth activities thanks to a new £250,000 Derbyshire County Council fund.
The Youth Action Grant scheme offers funding of up to £1,000 to benefit projects for young people aged 13 to 19-years-old, or up to 24-years-old if they have disabilities.
Charities, community and voluntary groups, social enterprises and not-for-profit groups are eligible to bid for the money.
Councillor Barry Lewis, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Young People, said: “We’re supporting local groups across the county to boost opportunities for young people.
“Changes we’ve made to our youth services have already seen us increase the number of activities available.
“Our new grant scheme will help support hundreds of new and established local groups and a wide variety of youth projects.”
The type of groups that might secure funding are drama clubs, sports teams, music groups and media workshops.
Applications for grants must be submitted by the last working day of the month, with the last date for bids for being 31 October 2012.
