WI: Bolehill WI met for a presentation by Barry Colenso who was going to talk about Chocolate from Field to Bar, but unfortunately Barry was unable to attend, so Francis Brown a member of the group kindly provided an entertaining talk about her time as Mayor of Maidstone from 1999 to 2000. Francis kindly gave everyone a chocolate egg as the group were expecting a talk about chocolate, which was gratefully received by all. Francis told the group during her year as Mayor she gained 1.5 stone in weight from all the civic meals she attended and she was allowed a budget of £1,600 to spend on clothes, however the year cost her a lot more than this, from her own personal budget.

She met a lot of dignatries from politicians to princes.

As Mayor Frances chose Home Start as the charity she was going to fund raise for during her year. Francis did not want to hold a formal ball so held an event for the soldiers, with Maidstone being a garrison town and instead of having a garden party, Francis raised money by holding a Murder Mystery Day for everyone in Maidstone‚Ä®.Francis was thanked for stepping in at the last minute and for providing an excellent talk.

Bolehill WI was presented with a certificate for their 95th Anniversary at the Winding Wheel - Chesterfield in March, the certificate was shown to all members at the meeting and a group photograph is going to be arranged.

The outing in March is a meal out in Belper, in April Bolehill WI will be hosting a Murder Mystery/ cheese and wine evening for the Group meeting, a trip has been arranged to Denman College in Oxfordshire in August and afternoon tea is being arranged at Biggin Hall in June.

Bolehill WI meet at 7.15pm in the Methodist rooms, Wood Street, Wirksworth on the third Tuesday of the month, the next meeting will be held on 16 April 2013 when Julia Gow will be speaking about Wildlife on Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Reserves.
