Boozy reveller shoved over a pub manager

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, April 22, how Keaton Holland, 21, of Masefield Avenue, Holmewood, Chesterfield, pushed Shannon Briddon after being refused entry to Charlie’s Bar.

Prosecuting solicitor John Cooper said: “Shannon Briddon saw two males walking towards the staff entrance at the rear of the premises. As she got to the rear door she saw Keaton Holland and told him he was barred because she claimed he had previously smashed a window.”

Mr Cooper added that Holland insulted Ms Briddon and there was a lot of shoving as he tried to get into the pub and she was pushed backwards but did not fall.

Holland told police he had been drinking to celebrate being released from prison and had gone on to Charlie’s Bar, on Turner Street. He claimed he had been wrongly barred after someone else had broken a window. Holland pleaded guilty to the assault which happened on March 15.

Defence solicitor Matt Evans said Holland had become defensive because he had been drinking and he had been pushed too. Mr Evans explained Holland had served 30 days in custody for breaching a Young Offenders’ Institution licence release period by committing the assault. Magistrates sentenced Holland to a 12 month conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge, £85 costs and £100 compensation.
