Molly Wylde will have the operation to repair a large hole in her heart.

The 12-year-old’s bravery has inspired her mum, Rachel, to organise the concert in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Molly, who was born with a genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome, had key hole surgery to fix a heart defect when she was just ten-months-old

Last summer, doctors found a hole in Molly’s heart. In January, she went for key hole surgery to fix the gap – but medics decided it was too big so she will need to undergo the major operation in Leeds next month.

Teacher Rachel, 40, of Ashgate Road, Chesterfield, said: “Molly has been through a lot and the next few weeks are not going to be easy.

“We are so proud of Molly as she has been so brave and despite everything she remains so positive.”

The gig will be headlined by Tom Hingley, who was lead singer of rock band the Inspiral Carpets, and also feature local musicians John Tansley and Martyn Broadhurst. It will take place at Real Time Live from 7.30pm on Friday, May 23.

Rachel said: “Tom has played audiences of thousands so seeing him in such a small venue will be great!”

Tickets can be bought from Real Time Live, on Marsden Street, Chesterfield. If anyone would like to donate raffle prizes or sponsor the event, call Rachel on 01246 229 547.
