Breast is the best way to feed newborn babies

NEW mums are being urged to breastfeed their babies as evidence proves it prevents infections and helps women regain their figures and pre-pregnancy weight faster.

During World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, which runs from Wednesday 1 August, NHS Derbyshire County aims to highlight the many health and financial benefits of breastfeeding.

These include the protection for babies against common infections like breathing problems, ear infections and vomiting and diarrhoea.

Teresa Cresswell, public health specialist for NHS Derbyshire County, said: “Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed your baby.”
