Brownies get cash

YOUNGSTERS have received a cash boost from a charitable organisation.

Matlock Derwent Valley Lions Club has generously donated £400 to the Darley Dale Brownies.

The girls were drawing prize winners for a raffle, when the two members of the Lions club arrived and presented them with a cheque for the cash.

The amount was raised from the club’s annual trolley dash held at the Co-operative store, in Bakewell Road, Matlock.

The chairman of the Darley Dale Scouts and Guides Association, Ed Runham, was on hand at the time.

He said: “This is to go into the fund for a new headquarters and it is most appropriate for the Brownies to receive this cheque on our behalf, as they are part of the future of our organisation.

“We are so grateful for the generosity of the lions to choose us to be the recipients”.
