Aldi representatives have delivered over 5,300 newsletters to residents and businesses in the area, encouraging feedback on the proposal.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Aldi currently has stores in Derby, Heanor, Alfreton and Ilkeston, but these are all located over six miles from the proposed site in Belper.

“We are committed to investing in the town and we are confident there is demand for a store. This site is ideally located for us to increase our offering to the people of Belper and the nearby villages.

“We want to know what the local community thinks of our proposal and would encourage people to complete and return our postage-paid feedback cards.

The spokesperson added that the proposed store will complement Belper’s existing pattern of trading, encouraging local people to complete their shopping needs within the town and helping to keep spend local.
