Ashbourne company Vital Earth, whose peat-free composts and natural fertilisers are made from recycled locally-sourced garden waste, has been shortlisted in the Public Sector Initiative category of the Edie Awards for Environmental Excellence 2011.
Vital Earth’s entry centred on its leadership of a project with the six Midlands’ local authorities aimed at maximising the quality of green waste coming in to its plant through improved recycling.
Vital Earth managing director, Steve Harper said: “This is great news. This is a prestigious national award which recognises our work to improve recycling and reduce the amount of waste that has to go to landfill.”
The winners will be announced on November 3.
