A HATHERSAGE business which came up with a successful range of children’s tableware is urging other local firms to export for growth.
Suzanne Stokes, of Nest, featured on a specialist panel at a free UK Trade and Investment ‘Making it in Derbyshire, Selling to the World event’, at the University of Derby.
She said: “Exporting has proved to be a steep learning curve but also a very enjoyable one, as mixing with people from different cultures is both interesting and rewarding.
“We’re about to take on another member of staff and we will be looking to expand further and build up our global distribution.
“Our export business is really important to us - currently accounting for 40per cent of sales - so it’s important for us to continue to work in overseas markets to grow and increase profits.
“The UKTI has been a fantastic source of knowledge, help and advice and I would strongly encourage other firms across Derbyshire to make use of any support to get exporting.”
UKTI’s Peter Hogarth said: “By sharing experiences with other Derbyshire firms, we hope this will lead others to export too. Exports are critical to economic recovery.”
