Derbyshire Dales District Council is providing a free introductory event to people from the Matlock and Wirksworth area on starting up a new business.
The seminar, 5.30pm to 8pm on March 15 at Arc Leisure Matlock, will be a guide to the main practical tips to starting a business.
The event is being organised by Derbyshire Dales Business Advice, a new service funded by Derbyshire Dales District Council and run by professional business adviser Heather Bradford.
Leader of the council, Cllr Lewis Rose said: “Economic development is now one of our top two priorities and I’m delighted we have started 2012 with a series of events designed to help local people who want to know more about starting a business.”
Bookings are being taken through a simple online inquiry form at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/businessadvice or by phoning 01629 810903 / 07825 344653.
A similar event is planned at Ashbourne Leisure Centre on 16 April, again 5.30-8.00pm.
Businesses must be based in the Derbyshire Dales to benefit from the free advice service.
