Grants for employers

Derbyshire Dales District Council is urging local businesses interested in employing a young apprentice to apply for new grants.

The Apprenticeship Grant for Employers of 16-24 year-olds can pay up to £1,500 to a business with under 250 employees taking on apprentices within this age group. The grant is on top of a subsidy for the training costs of the apprentices.

Cllr Lewis Rose OBE, leader of the council said: “Young people are facing hard times at the moment and so are our businesses. The new scheme will help both.

“It is an incentive to help local businesses take someone on and grow their business, and hopefully more opportunities for young people to learn a trade and secure a job.”
