HOPTON Hall will soon be switching to renewable energy in a bid to cut costs and help the environment.
The move comes after Bill and Julie Thomas bought the stately home, alongside its four holiday cottages and gardens, near Wirksworth.
With the help of estate manager, Spencer Tallis, the couple have decided to install a state-of-the-art wood pellet boiler system.
The system will heat the hall itself, the estate manager’s house, the four holiday cottages and the swimming pool.
Mr Thomas said: “Making the move to renewable heating was just a question of time for us.
“With every oil price rise the payback on a renewable system gets shorter and shorter.”
