Plan of action for business

A growing planning, architecture and design consultancy has opened a second office in Matlock to deal with an increased workload.

Planning Design has opened the new office at the Bentley Brook Studios in Lumsdale Road in addition to its main base at Derby’s Vernon Gate complex.

The consultancy does a lot of work in rural areas and the new office is to specifically help clients in Derbyshire Dales, the Peak National Park and Amber Valley.

The new base makes it easier to visit these clients or for them to consult with the staff.

The firm was set up in 2000 and managing director Jonathan Jenkin says he has a young, skilled, and talented team who know these areas.

“Despite the current recession in the economy and the building industry the consultancy has bucked the trend,” he said.

“Now is the time to expand and to have a dedicated office for these areas and to improve our service to clients old and new.”

With chartered planners who have worked in both the public and private sector the firm has experience of dealing with a wide range of issues.

“With the planning system continually changing people and businesses need specialist advice and support,” said Jonathan.

As part of the expansion the firm hopes to take on an architectural assistant in the next few weeks and another planner in the autumn.

“We plan to become a regional planning consultancy in the next few years to cover both the East and West Midlands and Cheshire,” Jonathan revealed.
