Buxton cyclist, 34, dies after collapsing on A537

A cyclist from Buxton who was found collapsed on the A537 Buxton New Road has died.

The 34-year-old man was discovered close to Bull Hill Lane, near Macclesfield, at 8.30pm last night (Wednesday).

Cheshire police are investigating the circumstances and appealing for anyone who saw the cyclist to get in touch.

A spokesperson said: “Medical assistance was provided to the man by both members of the public and ambulance staff, but sadly he passed away.”

The cyclist was riding a black road bike and wore a fluorescent tabard, white T-shirt and black cycling shorts.

Witnesses are asked to contact Cheshire police on 101, quoting incident number 858 09/04/14.
