A former Highfields pupil is celebrating after being awarded a scholarship from Cambridge University.
Anthony Leech, 19, from Matlock, has won a scholarship for doing so well in his studies of Politics, Psychology and Sociology at Christ’s College, Cambridge.
Anthony was tasked with gaining the top grade in his first year exams – which he was successful in a achieving.
Now in his second year of study, Anthony said: “I just really enjoy studying this course and was a bit surprised to find I’d won a bursary. This extra money has helped to pay my college bill.”
Highfields School is very proud of its former student and have asked him to come and talk to current sixth form students of Sociology and Psychology about what it’s like to study at Cambridge.
His former Sociology teacher, Amanda Serjeant, said: “I was so pleased to hear of Anthony’s success. He always showed natural flair for the subject so I am not surprised he is doing so well.”
