Car overturns on M1 near Chesterfield as driver fails breath test

Part of the M1 near Chesterfield was closed this morning after a car overturned and a driver failed a road side breath test.

Lane four on the southbound carriageway at J29A at Markham Vale was closed as was the entry slip road at J29A at about 6am.

There were delays in the area while Derbyshire Fire and Rescue and Service moved the overturned vehicle to safety.

Lanes three and four reopened but lanes one and two were then closed due to the recovery of the vehicle.

Derbyshire Roads Police said: “Driver OK but has failed roadside breath test 54ųg.”

All lanes are now back open.
