Volunteer drivers are needed to safeguard Ashover’s well-used social car scheme which helps parishioners make essential journeys.
Drivers use their own cars to aid those with difficulties due to age, health, and mobility problems as well as those who do not have their own transport. It could mean helping a person get to hospital.
“Demand for drivers has risen and we need at least six more if we are not to overburden our present volunteers,” said spokesman John Wardle.
“The scheme is not a taxi service. It’s designed to help people with transport for essential visits.”
All drivers are covered by social car scheme insurance and are paid mileage of 45p per mile.
