Cash boost for Tansley Village Hall

Tansley residents will soon have a modernised village hall thanks to a £24,908 grant from Derbyshire County Council.

The grant – which covers 80 per cent of the project cost – will be used together with the Hall’s Restoration Fund to carry out much-needed renovation work.

The money will be used to re-slate the upper room’s roof, replace old windows with double-glazing, refurbish the kitchen, sand and seal the wooden parquet floor and repair the cellar steps, as well as other minor jobs.

Chris Knightley, committee secretary, said: “We are proud of what has been achieved so far and will continue to renovate, modernise and improve the Village Hall for the benefit of its users.”

The refurbishment should be completed by late 2012.
