Cash for charity

The Bakewell and District Poppy Appeal has so far raised an impressive £7,000 and they are still counting.

The money will go towards the Royal British Legion which, is the country’s leading armed forces charity.

The volunteers have been hard at work collecting cash in areas such as Baslow, Great Longstone, Ashford in the Water, Winster and Birchover and were bowled over by the generosity of residents.

Len Twigg, Brian Dean, Derek Harrison, Judith Twigg and Paul McIver had the task of counting the money received.
