The Butchers Arms pub, on Hand’s Road, Heanor, will host the event to raise money for Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance Service (DLRAA).

Lisa Trussel, 45, of Julie Avenue in the town, lost her brother Daniel Pulford in a road traffic accident, aged just 25.

She said: “We will be forever grateful to DLRAA for trying to save Daniel. We hope that raising money for them could help to save another life.”

After serving in the Armed Forces for three years, Daniel left to become a lorry driver for Heanor Haulage. But on September 4 2001, his lorry collided with a combine harvester. DLRAA arrived on the scene but 70 minutes later Daniel died from his injuries.

The fundraiser will take place from 2pm on Saturday, July 26, and will include a barbecue, cake sale, games and a bouncy castle. There will also be a raffle with prizes donated from local companies.

The mother-of-two urged people to head down to the event and show their support. She said: “The Air Ambulance rely solely on public funding, so every little helps. We are providing entertainment and refreshments and hope to make it a great family day out.”
