Chesterfield among UK’s worst for dangerous drinking

Chesterfield has been shamed in a list revealing the UK’s worst areas for dangerous drinking.

The town is ranked 14th in a top 50 table of towns and cities which have the highest rate of drinkers going to hospital – coming before the likes of Manchester, Newcastle and Liverpool.

According to the figures from Public Health England, Chesterfield had 718 per 100,000 people needing treatment last year.

Amber Valley – which includes areas like Ripley, Heanor and Belper – ranks at the very bottom of the list.
