CHESTERFIELD: Labour claims borough election

Chesterfield Labour party is also celebrating victory in the borough elections.

Helen Bagley was voted in for St Helen’s ward while Linda Clarke claimed St Leonards.

Council leader John Burrows said: “I think this demonstrates Chesterfield is once again a strong Labour town.

“All the recent bad publicity that is ill informed about the borough council’s plans has misfired for those people who choose to use borough council election activities as a county council election plan.

“The number of people in Chesterfield that have voted Labour in both county and borough elections demonstrates our plans in Chesterfield are correct.

“I want to thank all the electorate in Chesterfield for the new faith in Chesterfield Labour party.”
