Shane and Lesley Osbiston, of the Wheatsheaf Inn, Newbold, Chesterfield, presented the donation to hospice fundraising chief Jo Edwards on behalf of the pub’s quiz regulars.

Wheatsheaf Quizmaster Eric Hall said: “The regulars at our quiz donate every single week of the year, culminating in a special charity evening at the end of January.

“On that evening they donate prizes and then pay for the privilege of winning them back. It’s crazy, but a good night is had by all. I’d like to take this opportunity of thanking them all for their generosity – the same people are dipping into their pockets week in, week out.

“We have now raised around £3,000 in total for the Hospice over the last few years.”

Joanne, of the hospice, on Ashgate Road, Brampton, Chesterfield, said: “It’s fantastic that they continue to support our work. Without them, and people like them, we wouldn’t be where we are today making such a positive difference to people.

“Eric comes up with these great pub quiz questions week after week, year after year... I couldn’t answer any of them.”
