Three people have died in a house fire in Langley Mill after the blaze took hold in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to a house in North Street at 4.04am today (Sunday, June 21) following reports of a fire.

A man, woman, and female child died following the fire, which badly damaged the house and a car parked outside, a spokesman for Derbyshire Police said.

Officers are now working with firefighters to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Several neighbouring properties have been evacuated as the fire caused a gas leak. Police understand engineers are currently working to fix the leak.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
