After a year of planning, designing and negotiating a new seating area at a Wirksworth school has finally arrived.
The seats over look the tennis courts at Anthony Gell School and art work for the colourful backdrop came from a team of students.
The pupils looked at the graphic designs of Keith Haring.
The theme of their project was “Get Moving – Get Active”.
A local company has manufactured the design to the school’s specifications.
The school thanked the design team: Joe Burnham Slade, Robert Dimbleby, Will Spencer, Summer Allen, Zoe Crowley, Jessie Hesp, Lydia Carr and Emily Wright.
They also thanked to Steve Moor from Elysian Ltd for making the panel, Stones of Wirksworth for the landscaping and planting, the school caretakers for all their help and to Anthony Gell Foundation Governors for providing the funds to make this project possible.
Head teacher, David Baker said he was impressed by the finished product. He added: “We hope it will give both young and old an enjoyable space to sit and enjoy the sporting scene for many a year to come.”
