A COOKERY competition proved a gastronomic success as schoolchildren went head-to-head in an event based on the TV programme, Come Dine With Me.
Junior pupils from South Darley Primary separated into teams of six and were tasked to research and devise a three-course meal for 12 guests as part of a project on food.
More than 50 parents, governors and other guests were then served up the freshly-prepared meals at the nearby village hall on Friday, and asked to mark their favourites.
Headteacher Meryl Hannant said: “It was fantastic, everyone had a marvellous time. It was a mammoth task- you should have seen the amount of washing up!”
