Cops keep people alert

Police are giving Peak priority to keeping local people up to date with all the latest policing issues.

Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team has signed up more than 1,000 people to Derbyshire Alert, a free messaging service that uses text messages, voicemail recordings and email to alert people across the county to any crimes, events, public meetings and any other issues relating to the force.

PCSO Anthony Boswell said: “The Derbyshire Alert service is a great tool that enables us to get important messages out to the public really quickly.

“Whether that’s appealing for information about a crime, offering personal safety advice, inviting people to a Safer Neighbourhood forum meeting or telling them about free crime prevention items, it allows us to reach hundreds or thousands of people in a very simple way.”
