Councillors approve sites for 317 new homes in Matlock, Wirksworth, Darley Dale and Tansley

The fate of Matlock’s landscape has been sealed after councillors agreed on the locations of 317 new homes in the area.

The homes will be built over the next 15 years as part of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Local Plan.

In Matlock, 100 homes will be built in Halldale Quarry, 65 homes will be built on land at Bentley Bridge and six will be built on land at the Old Slaughter House, in Smedley Street.

Twenty–seven homes will be built on land adjacent to Coneygreave House, in Wirksworth, and in Tansley 25 homes will be built at Whitelea Nursery, in Whitelea Lane.

In total, 4,400 new homes are planned throughout the Derbyshire Dales between now and 2028 in a bid to meet the area’s strategic housing requirements – an average of 200 homes per year.
