Country pub has makeover

A traditional country pub has had a successful opening night a fortnight after reopening its doors following a transformational makeover.

The Nag’s Head, situated in Hulland’s Ward, saw hundreds attend the launch night on February 23, where local residents had the a chance to sample the new menu and watch local singer, Vicki Lambert, perform.

“The launch was really busy and all of feedback was extremely positive,” said licensee Margaret Chamberlain.

“Everyone is pleased with the design and customers have commented that it is more open and welcoming with a light and airy feel, different and stylish without losing the traditional, friendly pub atmosphere.”

The pub was closed for four weeks whilst it underwent a major refurbishment costing £150,000 by leaseholders, Mark Dance and Margaret Chamberlain, and the owners, Punch Taverns.

Inside, the pub has been decorated using feature wallpaper as well as new stylish light fittings which combine the traditional country style with a more contemporary feel.

New flooring and furniture using has been added to reflect an olde worlde theme.
