Pupils got into the royal wedding spirit early with a tasty afternoon in Darley Dale.
Children from Darley Churchtown primary school tucked into jam and scones when they held a cream tea celebration in honour of the royal couple at St Helen’s church cafe.
Acting headteacher Lisa Critchlow said: “It was a very successful afternoon. We served more than 90 cream teas to parishioners from the church, people from the community and parents.
“People really enjoyed it and there was a lovely community feel.
“The room was set up beautifully. We had napkins with Union Jacks on and everything was decorated in red white and blue.
“The event was very well supported and I’d like to say a big thankyou to parents and the parishioners and people from the local community who came and also to the people who helped out.”
The school held the royal wedding celebration early as pupils will be on their Easter holidays when the wedding takes place.
