Inspector Martin Coey, who is in charge of policing in Buxton, said the women had probably come to Buxton from outside the area.

He added: “Buxton is a safe place but sometimes we get people coming in from out of the area to commit crime.

“If you are withdrawing large sums of money from the bank, go with someone else and be aware because people might be watching you.”

The theft happened at approximately 1.30pm.

The women are described as being white, in their early 20s and around five foot six.
