Birthday night out costs man £170

Birthday celebrations ended on a sour note for a Buxton man after he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Guntars Puite was asked to leave The Vault on June 13 after door staff noticed him stumbling into a group of people and becoming aggressive, High Peak Magistrates’ Court heard.

He was asked to leave the area but refused and when police arrived at 1.45am, they noticed his speech was slurred, his eyes were glazed and he was having trouble standing still, prosecutor Jennifer Fitzgerald said.

He was again asked to leave the area which he did, but returned shortly after. He was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

The 27-year-old, of Fairfield Road, admitted the offence.

Representing himself in court, he said: “I was in the Vault and there were a few guys who started on me, I didn’t start on them.

“I just told them to leave me alone. Then the bouncer took me out.

“I admit I’m guilty, I was drinking but I wasn’t that drunk, it was my birthday.”

Puite was fined £65 and ordered to pay a £20 government surcharge and £85 costs.
