The potential artillery shell was then inspected by bomb specialists who found that it was not an ammunition.

But the item was taken away by the disposal unit who said “it would be perfect for training” according to Matlock police who described the outcome as a “silver lining”.

Officers praised the resident for reporting the object which was thought to be an artillery shell: “Thanks to the person who reported this item, we take all these incidents seriously...better to be safe than sorry!”.
