Police will be putting the brakes on speeding vehicles after Buxton residents raised concerns at the latest safer neighbourhood governance meeting.

Officers from the Buxton Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team will be focusing on speeding through Peak Forest and Batham Gate Road, in Peak Dale, after setting the issue as the current policing priority for the area.

The team will be taking action to highlight the importance of safe and considerate driving and will be carrying out speed checks in the problem areas at key times.

Officers will also be heading out on increased patrols and speaking to motorists about the importance of sticking to the law on the roads and issuing warnings or fines to anyone breaking the limit.

Residents are invited to attend the next governance meeting to help set policing priorities on April 28.

The meeting will be held at the Great Rocks Industrial and Social Club, on School Road, in Peak Dale, from 7pm.

To speak to the Buxton team call PCSO Findlay-Wilson on 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire Police.
