Derbyshire man narrowly escapes jail after being caught over the limit on drink and drugs

Alexander Micallef, 32, of Gritstone Road, Matlock, was caught over the limit in the Causeway, Matlock, on October 21 last year, court records show.
In a later offence, committed on February 2 this year, he was caught driving after consuming too much alcohol, in Hurst Rise, Matlock.

Hide AdHe admitted drink and drug driving when he appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on July 30.
Records show that Micaleff had consumed benzoylecgonine, a substance used in cocaine in the earlier incident and had 51mg of alcohol to 100ml of breath when he was stopped in the second incident, when the legal limit is 35mg.
He was given a six-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months and banned from driving for three years.
