Derbyshire Police rule out hitchhiker sighting in search for missing Joshua Jones

Police searching for missing Derbyshire man Joshua Jones have ruled out a man hitchhiking in the Matlock area as being Joshua.

It’s been over a week since Joshua left his home on Hurst Rise, Matlock at 11.30am on Saturday, December 12.

The force received multiple calls regarding a man matching the 29-year-old’s description hitchhiking towards Chesterfield that afternoon but, following extensive enquiries, officers have now been able to rule out the hitchhiker.

Joshua was last seen on CCTV in Matlock town centre at the Boyes shop at around noon on December 12.

He was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a grey Superdry coat which is darker on the sleeves with a hood that is bright green on the inside.

Officers are still very keen to hear from anyone who may have information, no matter how small, in relation to his disappearance and would ask anyone with details to contact the force on 101, quoting reference 518 of 12 December.
