The grey McLaren 570S Spider first came to the attention of Derbyshire Police in Bakewell on Friday, October 30, after it was seen on the road with no front number plate.

Upon closer inspection, officers from Bakewell, Hathersage and White Peak Villages SNT found the rear number plate was also non-compliant.

According to officers, the driver claimed "it fell off yesterday", but police noted they had previously been warned about it.

The driver was reported for no front number plate and a non-compliant rear number plate and sent on their way.

However, less than a week later, they were pulled over again.

Officers from Matlock, Cromford, Wirksworth and Darley Dale SNT pulled the vehicle over on the A6 in Darley Dale on Thursday, November 5.

Officers were left unimpressed by the lack of action taken to fix the issues, which had been raised before, and seized the car.

In a post on Facebook, they wrote: "A6 Darley Dale. Recognise this car?

"It recently featured on our page for number plate offences. Guess what? Still no number plate.

"Driver was also advised about the importance of carrying his driving licence. Guess what? Still didn't have his driving licence. #VehicleSeized."

Officers added that the driver would get the car back "in due course".

A spokesman from Derbyshire Police said: “The driver of the McLaren 570S Spider was stopped on October 30, due to having no front number plate and a non-compliant rear number plate.

"He was issued with a traffic offence report and advised about the offences.

“He was then stopped again on November 5, for the same issues.

"The driver had no documentation to prove his licence or insurance and therefore the vehicle was seized.”
