Pensioner dies in crash near Bakewell

A 74-YEAR-OLD woman died in a car crash near to Bakewell.

Ann Warin, of Bakewell, was killed in a two-vehicle road accident on the A6 at Topley Head, at 11am on Thursday March 31.

A black Volvo estate collided with a green Suzuki hatchback.

Mrs Warin, who was in the front seat in the Suzuki died of her injuries and her husband Peter, who was driving, was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries.

The front seat passenger in the Volvo was taken to hospital in Manchester suffering from internal injuries.

Mrs Warin had two sons – Russell and Randall. Her funeral will be held at Chesterfield Crematorium on Tuesday April 12 at 1.10pm, with donations being sent to Derbyshire Leicestershire Rutland Air Ambulance.

As the Mercury went to press a police spokesman said Mr Warin was still in a serious condition in hospital.

Derbyshire police have begun an investigation into the circumstances of the collision and would like to speak to any witnesses.
