Police bid to trace woman after ‘attack’ in Derbyshire

Officers investigating an alleged assault in Wirksworth would like to speak to a woman they think may have seen the incident.

Police said there was an altercation between two groups of teenagers on a dirt track just off Old Lane between around 4.30pm and 5.15pm on July 1.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “A woman is thought to have walked past during the incident and afterwards stopped to speak to a few of the boys.

“She had been wearing a purple jacket and hiking boots, and was carrying a backpack.

“We’d like to trace and speak to this woman.

“If this was you or if you have any information which could help with our inquiries, please get in touch.”

Call police on 101, quoting reference number 20*335457 and name of the officer in the case, DC Jane Cyples.
