Police hand out Covid fines after people meet up for 'barbecue and a picnic' at Chatsworth
Police issued Covid-19 fines to members of three different households after they were seen having a barbecue in the grounds of Chatsworth House this weekend.
The group of five people were given £200 fines after police were called by a member of the public on Sunday, March 21.
Bakewell, Hathersage and White Peak Villages Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said the group thought it was ‘ok to sit and have a BBQ and picnic’.
A spokesperson for the police team added: “The group were dispersed.
“We understand that the lockdown has been hard for people, but we ask that the public stick with the rules.”
Last month a group who travelled more than 150 miles to the Peak District told police officers they had done it because lockdown is ‘boring’.
A group of three men were pulled over by police in a silver Volkswagen in Baslow, near Chatsworth House in February.
