Police issue update on alleged murder in Derbyshire town

Officers investigating an alleged murder in a Derbyshire town have arrested two more people.

A 24-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, both from Sheffield, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday and are currently in police custody.

Ricky Collins, of Sheffield, was found seriously injured in Westthorpe Road, Killamarsh, on March 29 after reportedly being assaulted.

The 31-year-old father had suffered stab wounds and sadly later died in hospital.

A murder investigation was subsequently launched and two men have been charged with the offence of assisting an offender.

A 43-year-old man, from Sheffield appeared before magistrates on Saturday and was remanded into prison custody.

Martin Mongan was arrested in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, on Friday.

The 44-year-old appeared before magistrates on Monday and was also remanded into custody.

A 16-year-old Sheffield boy, who was arrested on suspicion of murder last week, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We would urge anyone with information who hasn’t yet come forward to contact us.”
