The initiative sees licensees working together to help to make the night time economy safer, whilst being supported by police officers.

The licensees, chaired by Louise Evans of The Crown, Matlock, are set to meet regularly to discuss licensing issues, including how to deal with people that need banning due to alcohol related offences, along with keeping each other in the loop with relevant information.

Louise Evans, Chair of the Matlock Pubwatch scheme, said: “It was really important for me to support and become a part of the Matlock Pubwatch scheme, as working alongside other premises within the centre to prevent and deter disorder and to ensure the safety of our customers is crucial for a community like Matlock.”

PC Sandra Barlow, of the North Licensing Team, added: “It is fantastic to see all of the licensees coming together to show their support in making Matlock’s night time economy a safer place for people to work and enjoy.

“The Pubwatch scheme is a positive partnership that helps to increase communications between police and licensees, enabling us to better work together to reduce alcohol related crime and disorder in the town.”
