Further details about the crimes were not given but police said anyone who receives a call that raises suspicions should hang up and dial 101 on a different phone or check the caller’s identity by checking with their local neighbourhood policing team.

Residents are also urged to never give out personal or financial information over the phone, even if the caller claims to be from their bank.
