Under Government regulations to prevent the spread of Covid-19, people should only go out when absolutely necessary for food, medicine, work or exercise, always try to stay two metres apart and not meet others outside their household, even friends and family.

Temperatures reached nearly 20C in Derbyshire on Sunday – but despite the warm weather, a Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “The weekend saw a large drop in numbers of visitors to some of our busiest towns and villages.

“It is clear that the vast majority of people in the county are heeding the call to stay home and save lives – for which we would like to extend our thanks.”

The spokesperson added: “However, as the number of calls from concerned members of the public attest, there are still a small but disappointing number who are not following the guidance.

“These incidents range from people having BBQs and parties at their homes – to driving significant distances in order to take walks.

“The Government guidance is there to protect each and every one of us and the danger of this virus cannot be overstated.

“We would urge everyone to read the guidance and abide by both the wording – and the spirit in which it was written – to help save lives and protect the NHS.”
