Two charged with going equipped for theft

Two men from Somercotes have been charged with going equipped for theft in Matlock Bath.

It follows a police operation on Monday night when officers stopped a car on North Parade.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and were later charged.

Andrew Mcguigan, 36, of Thurston Avenue, appeared at Chesterfield Justice Centre today (Wednesday, November 30). He has since been bailed and is set to reappear on Thursday, January 12.

Joshua Slater, 21, of Peterway, is due to appear Chesterfield Justice Centre on the same day.

Officers are urging residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to police on 101 to help them to stop a crime from happening.
