Criminal offences continue to fall in Derbyshire

Members of Derbyshire Police Authority have welcomed the latest performance figures which suggest that crime across the county continues to fall.

A recent report reveals that Derbyshire Constabulary recorded an 18.5 per cent reduction in offences between April and July 2012 – meaning 3,007 fewer crimes were committed.

Philip Hickson, chairman of Derbyshire Police Authority, said: “We are very impressed with the strong performance achieved so far and hope that this is a good indication of what’s to come in the remainder of the year.

“However, in reality, it is very early days and we must not celebrate prematurely as there is still a long way to go.”
